It’s official, the biggest news of Medified’s history is finally out - Medified got acquired by a Swedish online psychotherapy provider Mindler. Together with Mindler we can take next steps on our mission to tackle mental illness on a global scale.
It’s been an insightful and exciting journey to this point. Every startup has a unique founding story and the WHY. For us, it all started with the realization of the lack of systematic treatment monitoring tools in psychiatric care that no one seemed to be actively solving even though the problems occured on a daily basis. Our ambitious vision to make a change to that as medical students and future healthcare professionals led us to found Medified in 2019.
We originally built a new digital platform connecting mental health care professionals and patients through a mobile app.The platform fosters a shared understanding and makes mental health treatment more personalized with a patient-centric and data-driven approach which we believe is the future of mental healthcare. When co-developing the solution together with renowned psychotherapists, physicians, and patients, we realized that our solution was really something that was missing in the current care methods. Already during our early-stage development we discovered that the opportunity is massive. Hearing all these wonderful and encouraging stories from our users and customers on what our solution has offered to them has truly shown us the huge positive impact we've been able to create in a short period of time.
The heart of our mission was and will always be to help professionals with their demanding duties and people fighting with mental health to find new paths to mental well-being. This is something that we’ve focused on in our product. Our work has always been guided by the belief that creating effective and scalable digital solutions for mental health care is one of the most worthwhile challenges of our time to overcome.
This was just the beginning
According to the Office for National Statistics, over 10 million adults (1 in 5) were likely to be experiencing some form of depression during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, more than double the pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Meanwhile many professionals still face problems utilizing digital solutions in mental health care which inevitably prevent our healthcare systems from working to their full potential.
We are still on the run to solve this problem. But it is relieving to know that we are not on this mission alone. There are many companies that aim to develop modern mental health care and are in a position to make meaningful progress towards it. Much like others, we’ve been watching and admiring Mindler’s work for a while. When we first met the founders of the Mindler, we were delighted to see how similar values and visions we share. We were convinced of their ways of pushing this matter forward and developing affordable and accessible mental healthcare for all. They saw the potential of our data-driven product and the team behind it. It didn’t take long to realize the synergies of our services and things eventually fell in place quite rapidly.
Today’s announcement means we have the opportunity to take what we’ve learned at Medified and bring our efforts to a whole new level with Mindler. Our whole team of 7 will continue our work and mission onwards at Mindler. We can’t think of a better home for us and are beyond excited to ramp up development within the new organization.
